Our Story
Nearly Fifty Years of Tradition
Nestled in the heart of Dayton, Maine, Boiling Spring Tree Farm has been a family tradition for generations. Long before the first trees were planted, Clem Meserve grew up on property on Gordon Road; at the time it was dairy farm. Clem and his wife Merri purchased this property and the field on Gould Road in 1970 from his father, drawn by its peaceful beauty and of course, the boiling spring itself. In 1980 they planted their first Christmas trees, beginning a tradition that has welcomed families back season after season. What started as a handful of young seedlings has grown into a beloved Christmas tree farm built on hard work, hospitality, warm hugs, and a love for sharing the holidays with the community.
Despite its name, the Boiling Spring doesn't actually boil. Instead, crystal-clear, ice-cold water bubbles continuously up through the sandy bottom, creating the illusion of boiling water. Even during the coldest Maine winters, the spring never freezes thanks to the water's constant movement. For countless generations the spring has been a local curiosity and landmark, and today it remains the heart of the farm's identity. Just as the spring has bubbled steadily through the years, Boiling Spring Tree Farm has continued to grow, offering visitors not only beautiful Christmas trees, but a place where lasting family memories are made.
Clem and Merri are still actively involved in the day-to-day life of the farm, and have begun to pass the torch to the next generation. Their granddaughter, Arianna, and her husband, Charles, are proud to carry on the tradition they started with the same commitment to quality, family, and creating a place where holiday memories are made. As the farm continues to grow and evolve, its roots remain the same: a family working together to share the simple joy of a real Christmas tree for generations to come.

Award-Winning Trees and Wreaths
At Boiling Spring we take pride in the premium Christmas trees and handmade wreaths we produce. Our trees and wreaths have regularly won state-wide recognition at Fryeburg Fair, and we were honored to present a tree to Gov. Mills at the Blaine House this year.
Our decorated wreaths have also national recognition, winning first place in the National Christmas Tree Association's competition.
